Fourth Defendant Arrested for Elizabeth Felony Murder, Robbery

ELIZABETH, NJ – A fourth man has been arrested, December 11, for the murder of  a Brooklyn resident last year during an attempted robbery at Jacques and East Jersey streets.

Larry Jones, 33, of South 13th Street in Newark was charged with the death of 41-year-old Mamuka Chamiashvili, which occurred, September 16, 2014. The victim had come to the city to see a  Mercedes-Benz SUV for sale. After the test drive, armed men approached and gunshots rang out.

The other defendents are Keon Lewis, 30, of Elizabeth, who was charged with felony murder in October 2014. Ali Garner, 29, of Elizabeth had been arrested the week before. A third defendant  involved in orchestrating the robbery, 37-year-old Travis Picou of Paterson, was arrested and charged in January 2015.

Bail for Jones was set at $750,000 Wednesday. Convictions on felony murder charges can carry sentences of 30 years to life in state prison.

These criminal charges are mere accusations. Each defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
