Fugitive Charged in Fatal Roselle Shooting Surrenders

ELIZABETH, NJ - Nathaniel Price, the Roselle resident sought by police in connection with a fatal shooting in Roselle last weekend has turned himself in to authorities, acting Union County Prosecutor Grace H. Park and Roselle Police Chief Gerard Orlando jointly announced Jan. 26.  

The incident was initially reported in TAPinto Elizabeth on Jan. 22.

Price, 25, is charged with murder and related weapons offenses in connection with the death of 21-year-old Tyquan Johnson of Newark.

Roselle Police Department units found Johnson suffering from multiple gunshot wounds on the 1000 block of Rivington Street Johnson suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to University Hospital in Newark, where he was pronounced dead later in the day.

A joint investigation involving the Union County Homicide Task Force, Roselle Police Department, Union County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Unit, and Union County Police Department Ballistics Unit quickly resulted in Price being identified as a suspect in the case, prompting a multi-state search also involving members of the U.S. Marshals Service. Price turned himself in to police in Roselle at approximately 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, after which he was lodged in Union County Jail pending a detention hearing.

Convictions on murder charges are commonly punishable by terms of 30 years to life in state prison.

These criminal charges are mere accusations. Each defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
