Have You or a Loved One Had a Stroke?

ELIZABETH, NJ - Trinitas Regional Medical Center has developed a free Stroke Support Group to provide a critical resource to the community at large. The group will focus on adjusting to life after surviving a stroke, caregiver survival tips, and strategies to prevent a recurrent stroke. This support group will be run by a team that consists of a dietitian, physical therapist, occupational therapists, speech therapist, physicians, and registered nurses specializing in acute stroke care. The first meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, May 3, from 5:30-6:30 PM. The group will meet at Trinitas’ Administrative Building located at 210 Williamson Street, Elizabeth, NJ in the Physicians Conference Room.

The Trinitas Stroke Program recently received certification from the Joint Commission. This new level of certification recognizes the significant resources in infrastructure, staff, and training that comprehensive stroke centers must have to provide state-of-the-art stroke care. Their staff of professionals provide excellent care and to all patients and family members who participate in this program. Participants in the program can expect to receive:

-Information to help prepare for the changes that happen because of a stroke.

-Communication to help you cope with aphasia and difficulty in using language.  

-Stroke Prevention Services to support you in changing your way of life and reducing your risk of stroke.

-Advice on getting back to your daily routine and returning to your community to face the future.

-Care Giver Support which offers both medical advice and the invaluable opportunity to socialize with others in the same situation.

Goethals Bridge to New Jersey to be Closed Friday Night through Sunday

ELIZABETH, NJ - The Goethals Bridge to New Jersey will be closed to all traffic beginning 9 p.m. Friday, May 18 until 9 p.m. Sunday, May 20.
