ELIZABETH, NJ — A new mural is coming to Elizabeth due to a collaboration with the City and The Elizabeth Renaissance Foundation.  The plan is for the mural to be completed by December.

The site of the mural will be on the arch below the train overpass at the intersection of Morris Avenue and Julian Place. A review committee is currently accepting proposals from artists who would like to paint the new mural.

According to the committee’s criteria, the mural should be vibrant and reflect the history of Elizabeth. This location is where the Elizabeth Historic Midtown and Morris Avenue Business districts meet. The goal is to have the new mural be a location that would attract people to take photos and post about it on social media.

The proposals are to be sent by email to Phyllis Reich at preich@elizabethnj.org by November 10 at 4 p.m. Sketches should be sent in jpeg or pdf, 8.5 x 11 format. Artists should also submit 1-2 examples of other outdoor pieces and their locations.

The chosen artist will be given a stipend of $700.  All of the supplies needed will be paid for by the City and the Elizabeth Renaissance Foundation.
