ELIZABETH, NJ – It’s official. What has almost become a city tradition of saving parking spaces dug out during snow storms by putting household items in the street is now prohibited.

This evening, residents received the following recorded message from City Hall, “As of Thursday, March 23, 2017, the City of Elizabeth will be removing all furniture and objects that have been placed in the streets reserve parking spots. As you know, city street parking is open to the public, and while some are accustomed to ‘reserving parking spaces’ this is not permitted. Please remove all objects you wish to keep. Waste Haulers have been notified to throw out any remaining furniture or objects that are still in the streets, effective Thursday morning. Thank you.”
