ELIZABETH, NJ – One lucky, unknown customer of Sun Deli just bought his dream for $1 and won $275,274 in the Jersey Cash 5 jackpot from the Wednesday, Nov. 16 drawing.

“The lottery agent told me, but I don’t know who the winner is,” said the puzzled owner of the Madison Avenue store, Lan Luk, who was at first dismayed to see the agent. She asked, ‘What kind of trouble? He said, ‘No trouble, somebody won here.’ He was happy for me. I was happy, too. I hope more people will win here.”

That may happen. This is the second time the store has sold the winning ticket. The first occurred in May 2000. The deli’s reputation as a lucky location is growing, and lottery ticket buying has increased since the news of the win went public.

The unknown winner matched all five numbers: 12, 15, 18, 25 and 34 the XTRA number was: 02. As the lucky retailer, Luk will receive a bonus check for $2,000, according to Carole Hedinger the lottery’s executive director.
