SUMMIT, NJ - A tanker truck with more than 8,000 gallons of fuel on board overturned at the Broad Street / Route 24 overpass near Middle Avenue in the early morning hours of November 4.

According to the City of Summit, the Summit Fire Department was on the scene, the leaking was contained and the Union County Bureau of Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) team was also on scene handling the cleanup, which continued through noon Monday.

Broad Street, between the Route 24 overpass and Middle Avenue, is closed as is the Broad Street entrance into Summit. Morris Turnpike (Route 124) in Springfield is closed in both directions from Millburn Avenue to Mt. Ararat Road in Short Hills.

No injuries have been reported. 

Mutual aid was provided by Millburn Fire Department, Scotch Plains Fire Department, Springfield Fire Department, Union County Fire Department were on the scene.
