ELIZABETH, NJ –Plainfield resident Jamie Castillo Castro, 24, is charged with first-degree aggravated manslaughter in connection with the death of 34-year-old Oscar Isaac Ramos Lopez, acting Union County Prosecutor Grace H. Park announced Jan. 14.

Castro has been arrested and charged for his alleged role in an altercation that resulted in another city man’s death that happened at approximately 11:15 p.m. Thursday, January 12.  Plainfield Police Division patrol units responding to a report of a fight in the area of Park Avenue and West Second Street where they found Lopez unconscious in the street. He was rushed to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead the next day.

An investigation involving the Prosecutor’s Office’s Homicide Task Force and High Tech Unit, Plainfield Police Division, U.S. Marshals, and Union County Sheriff’s Office’s Crime Scene Unit determined that following an exchange of words on the street, Lopez and Castro engaged in a physical altercation that ended with Lopez being fatally injured. Castro was located and arrested Saturday, after which he was lodged in Union County Jail, with bail to be determined.
