ROSELLE, NJ – An 18-month-old boy died Monday in what was initially reported as a “pediatric drowning.”
The incident is being investigated by Roselle police and the Union County Prosecutor’s Office. Authorities said the child was “unresponsive” when police arrived at the home on the 500 block of West Seventh Avenue at about 8:45 p.m. He was pronounced dead at Trinitas Regional Medical Center in Elizabeth shortly after 10 p.m., according to the prosecutor’s office.
When police were dispatched to the incident, it was described a pediatric drowning, according to the Broadcast News Network (BNN) which monitors police radio transmissions. The reports also said authorities were questioning two juveniles regarding the matter.
Mark Spivey, a spokesman for the Union County Prosecutor’s Office, would not confirm the drowning report. He said the cause of the child’s death is under investigation.
