Families, friends and even a few dogs walked in support of drug prevention and New Jersey’s first public recovery high school. The Raymond Lesniak Recovery High School and Prevention Links are working to expand their efforts to support all New Jersey Youth in recovery.

Cranford Police Detective Kelly Rieder kicked off the ceremony by singing the National Anthem, followed by speakers Senator Raymond Lesniak, Assemblyman Jamel C. Holley, Union County Freeholders Chairman Bruce Bergen, Vice-Chair Sergio Granados, Bette Jane Kowalski, Linda Carter, Vernell Wright, Christopher Hudak, along with Union County Prosecutor Grace H. Park, Elizabeth Board of Education Director Stan Neron, Prevention Links Michael Litterer, Pam Capaci, staff and others were also in attendance.

After the ceremony, everyone joined in the activities. The Union County bomb squad brought in their bomb trucks and robot. A kids zoo was set up featuring ponies, goats, ducks and other animals for children to pet and take photos, along with pumpkin painting and other family fun activities.

Many organizations set up with tables to give information on various programs available to families in need of help.

As New Jersey and the nation continue to battle the heroin epidemic, Prevention Links continues to offer parents a better chance of watching their child graduate high school.
