I was struck after reading and listening to the BBC that this week that Facebook had one billion people on its services for a single day, which occurred this week on Monday. I have been a member of Facebook, since 2008, but this system was founded in 2004, and I was slow to the technology that now has over a billion and a half users.

The astounding figure on Monday showed that 1 in 7 people in the world were tuned into posting and reading Facebook on that single day. Give credit to Mark Zuckerberg for this achievement, but read another feat listed in the next paragraph.

The TAP online newspapers increased their readership over 60 percent from 2014 to 2015. In an era when printed newspapers are in decline, and the worry about citizens knowing about their community, and their nation is growing; there comes this TAP system that  now has 35 plus community online systems in New Jersey!. From July 1st to July 31st, TAP in NJ reached 546,397 users up from a similar period last summer when it had 474,693 users, even page views are up  over a million!

I have not met Mark from Facebook, but I have met Michael Shapiro, from TAP, and he has shown a way to report community news for  a great proportion of NJ Communities. The issue of creating new journalism was often the focus of the State public Service agency called the Citizen Campaign. Michael and his quest has greatly enhanced the news of NJ communities.

Thanks Mike
