ELIZABETH, NJ – Proving that everything old can be new again, Snyder Academy on Broad Street hosted an Open House and ribbon cutting ceremony to showcase the recently renovated facility and to launch the citywide walking tour that highlights the city’s rich history.
Next door to the oldest burial grounds in New Jersey, the 1917 Neocolonial building with its Beaux Arts interior has been brought up to 21st century standards. The 20,000-square-foot building now features office and meeting space, an artist studio, and the capacity for smart classrooms. It also houses an equipped and licensed commercial kitchen available for rent to caterers. Snyder Academy can also host weddings and other social events.
With a nod to its past, Snyder Academy houses a permanent exhibition, filled with artifacts from the city’s history and is currently developing educational programs.
