ELIZABETH, NJ — Teen summer programming at the Elizabeth Public Library will be ending Friday.
Word Find Friday will be the last Teen Summer Reading club activity for 2020. To participate teens ages 12-19 must complete the word search posted to the library’s instagram page and DM the account a screenshot, and the teen will be entered in the raffle. The library will accept submissions until Wednesday and five raffle winners will be announced next Friday. Winners will receive two free medium italian ices from DiCosmo’s.
This year the library had to pivot all of their teen summer programming because of the pandemic. At the beginning of the summer the library had not yet re-opened.
Teens who are still looking for ways to stay occupied in the four weeks before school begins can visit the library in person for 45-minute sessions. Groundwork Elizabeth is also still registering teens to volunteer at their MicroFarm on Thursdays behind the Elmora Branch Library. Volunteers would be at the MicroFarm from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The library also has its own volunteer program for Elizabeth teens in grades 9-12; however, intake may be significantly reduced due to the pandemic.
