Suspect Sought In Early Morning Carjacking In Elizabeth

ELIZABETH, NJ—Police are searching for the driver of vehicle after a shooting and carjacking earlier this morning in Elizabeth.

The suspect was reportedly driving a beige or light-colored Cadillac SUV, with a reported NJ license plate number X91-GSB. The suspect is wanted for shots fired at the scene that left another man suspected in the carjacking injured in the area of Meredith and Edgar Road this morning officials said.

The vehicle that the suspect fled in is being reported as belonging to a retired police officer. That report has not been confirmed yet.

EMS rushed the alleged carjacking suspect, who was reported as conscious and alert to an area hospital. His injuries are not known at this time. The incident is being reported as a carjacking, and the suspect/s remain at-large according to officials.

The Union County Prosecutor’s Office is investigating the incident, according to Elizabeth police.
