Three indicted for Rahway murder

ELIZABETH, NJ – Three men have been indicted by s Union County grand jury with a fatal shooting of a 21-year-old man in Rahway last summer, acting Union County Prosecutor Grace H. Park announced February 10.

Quincy Oliver, 22, of Rahway, Tyrell Dekle, 22, of Woodbridge, and James Sears, 23, of East Orange, a confirmed member of the Piru set of the Bloods street gang, all are charged with first-degree murder, first-degree conspiracy to commit murder, and two second-degree weapons offenses in connection with the death of Nigel Morton.

The shooting occurred shortly after 10 p.m. on June 8, 2015, when Morton answered the front door of his Westfield Avenue home and was shot once in the chest, according to Union County Assistant Prosecutor Michael Henn, who is prosecuting the case.

Morton died of his injuries at a local hospital the following morning, Henn said

Convictions on first-degree murder charges commonly result in penalties of 30 years to life in state prison.

These criminal charges are mere accusations. Each defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
