ELIZABETH, NJ — Tropical Storm Fay made landfall in Ocean County just after 5 p.m. near Little Egg Harbor Inlet. Fay is expected to reach Elizabeth Friday evening and continue into the early hours of the morning.
During his daily COVID-19 briefing, Governor Murphy urged New Jerseyans to remain inside until the storm has passed for what he called “storm-induced social distancing.”
A flood watch has been announced by the National Weather Service. A low-lying urban area like downtown Elizabeth is at a high risk for flash flooding.
The Governor also urged residents to immediately call 9-11 if they see down power lines. Whether in a car or on foot down power lines can be potentially fatal if approached.
