PATERSON — Police discovered a 37 year-old Elizabeth man in the basement of a 10th Avenue building on Saturday, authorities said.

The man, who was not identified, was discovered with a non-fatal gunshot wound. He was found around 3:50 p.m. while police were responding to a report of a burglary in the same area, Deputy Paterson Police Chief Heriberto Rodriguez and Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes said in a news release.

A 46 year-old Patterson woman alerted police to the victim’s location in a basement of a building located at 447 10th Ave. Authorities said the woman was a victim of a recent assault.
