CRANFORD, NJ -- The Union County College Foundation will host its 2nd Annual “Close the Gap” Cocktail Reception on July 19 in the Victor M. Richel Student Commons on the Cranford campus. The campaign supports the UCC's strategic initiative to help shrink the growing achievement gap that exists for African American students and will also provide financial assistance to help African Americans complete their degrees on time.

Attendees will have the opportunity to meet the honored guest Carl Banks, former New York Giants Super Bowl Champion and President of G-III Sports by Carl Banks. Assemblymen Jerry Green and Jamel Holley, members of the Host Committee, are significant advocates for the Close the Gap Campaign.

Thanks to support of the Close the Gap fund, graduation rates for African American male students have more than doubled in the last two years. The success of turning our students into graduates can continue to happen with the financial support of local businesses and community members. The money raised from this event will help the Union County College Foundation accelerate the pace of student success.

The opportunity exists for businesses and individuals to participate either as event sponsors or to purchase individual tickets. If you cannot attend, consider making a donation. For more information about the event, call (908) 709-7505 or visit http://www.ucc.edu/Foundation/Campaign.aspx.
