ELIZABETH, NJ – A woman visiting an inmate at the Union County Jail was arrested October 18 and charged with possession of marijuana and for introducing contraband into a correctional facility, both disorderly persons offenses. 

Gekisah Fowlkes, 32, from Orange, was accused of placing plastic straws containing under 50 grams marijuana, into exposed screw holes in the block separating the inmates and the visitors, which the screws had been removed

After an investigation, Fowlkes was found to be in possession of marijuana and had already attempted to place a number of straws into the holes.  Fowlkes was placed under arrest and charged. She was transported to County Police, where she was processed and released pending a City of Elizabeth Municipal Court date.
