Summit resident Nancy King will be honored with a Lifetime Service Award from Elizabeth Organization

ELIZABETH, NJ - Summit resident Nancy King will be honored with a Lifetime Service Award as Family and Children’s Services of Elizabeth, celebrates its 125th anniversary, hosting the organization's sixth annual Red Carpet Party March 1, at Canoe Brook Country Club.

King is the founder and benefactor of "Nancy’s Place," a Covenant House Supportive Housing Program in Montclair that helps homeless mentally ill young adults transition to independence. In addition, she is a founding member of Hilltop Community Bank and serves on the Board of Directors for The Center for Great Expectations. She has also been a member of the Board of Trustees for Manhattanville College, the Board for Kenwood Home for Retired Religious Leaders, and the Steering Committee for Women in Nonprofit Leadership.

Family and Children’s Services (FACS) of Elizabeth, which assists disadvantaged families and vulnerable children, is one of many organizations that have benefited from King’s philanthropy.

King became involved with FACS in 1984 at the encouragement of her mother, Jane Roberts, who had been a dedicated member of the Children’s Service Committee since 1970. She has served on the FACS Board of Trustees since 1986, is Past President and current Vice President of the Board, as well as Co-Chair of the Development Committee. King has been a key supporter and Committee Chair of the annual Red Carpet Party since its inception five years ago. 

This year’s Red Carpet Party Fashion Show will feature designs by Sareh Nouri, Gracy Accad New York, Bloomingdale’s, Dressed by Lori Boutique, and Schultz & M. Blaustein. Guests will enjoy Red Carpet Cocktails and Cuisine while participating in the popular Handbag Raffle and Silent Auction.
