ELIZABETH, NJ — Elizabeth Public Schools held its first two socially distant graduation ceremonies on Monday for Frank J. Cicarell Academy and Thomas Jefferson Arts Academy at Williams Field.

This is the first time all of the graduating seniors have been together since all New Jersey schools closed on March 16. Speeches from the principals and Board of Education members congratulated the students on their strength throughout this atypical school year.

“You have proven that working collaboratively is what makes a school a community. This level of resilience that you have shown during your final fourth marking period will serve you well as you begin the next chapter of your lives,” said Superintendent Olga Hugelmeyer at Cicarell Academy’s graduation ceremony Monday morning.
