A recent 2021 list released by The U.S. News & World Report ranked three Elizabeth Public Schools in the top 250 public schools in New Jersey. The report includes data on 24,000 public high schools nationally and 424 public high schools throughout New Jersey.
Elizabeth High School was ranked #13 out of all New Jersey High Schools and #204 in national rankings. Elizabeth High School appeared on the report scoring 98.86 based on its performance on state-required tests, graduation and how well they prepare students for college.
Alexander Hamilton Preparatory Academy landed a spot as the top 49th public high school within New Jersey for its college readiness index.
Thomas Jefferson Arts Academy ranked at 224 of all New Jersey schools with a graduation rate of 75%.
The study considered used data from 2018 to 2019 to create the rankings. Schools were ranked by students taking at least one AP® Exam, passing at least one AP® Exam, mathematics proficiency, reading proficiency, and graduation rate.
“Families can use the Best High Schools rankings to see how schools compare at the national, state and local level on factors like graduation rates and college readiness,” said Anita Narayan, managing editor of Education at U.S. News. “The rankings also provide insight into academic performance among underserved groups."
The U.S News Best High School List also includes data on a variety of factors, such as enrollment, student diversity, participation in free and reduced-price lunch programs, graduation rates and the results of state assessments, according to a statement released by U.S. News.
