Elizabeth, NJ – A Day of Remembrance to honor prisoners of war and those missing in action will be held Friday, September 15, at 11:00 a.m. The ceremony is being held at the plaza in front of the Union County Courthouse.
The Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders invites all residents and visitors to gather with veterans and their families to join in the POW/MIA Remembrance Day.
“Though the scars of past wars will never fully heal, I hope that this ceremony provides a measure of comfort and support to those who are seeking answers and closure,” Freeholder Bruce H. Bergen said. “By coming together as one community, we reaffirm our pledge to advocate for a thorough accounting of all POW/MIA.”
The Courthouse is located in midtown Elizabeth at 2 Broad Street. There is access to train and bus service and public parking is available.
The ceremony will be moved inside to the Courthouse Rotunda if there is rain.
