ELIZABETH, NJ — Elizabeth senior citizens can now apply to receive farmer’s market vouchers from the county by mail.
The vouchers can be used at the farmer’s market in Union Square between Elizabeth Avenue and High Street, which is open every Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m until November. This market also accepts WIC and SNAP as payment.
To receive an application by mail, seniors can call 908-527-4870 or 888-280-8226. Eligible seniors can receive up to six $5 vouchers.
“The mail-only distribution process will enable seniors in need to continue engaging with a popular program that adds variety and nutritional value to daily meals while supporting local farmers,” said Freeholder Chairman Alexander Mirabella.
In order to be eligible seniors must be 60 years of age or older. For a single person their monthly income cannot be more than $1,968 per month; for married couples the limit is $2,658.
