MOUNTAINSIDE, NJ--A special free program that brings regional birds of prey up close and personal will be held at Trailside Nature and Science Center on Saturday, Sept. 16 from 1:30 to 2:45 p.m.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for visitors to view a live bald eagle, peregrine falcon and osprey in a way you may never have the chance to in your everyday life,” Freeholder Chairman Bruce H. Bergen said.

Visitors will have the chance to see live birds of prey from the Delaware Valley Raptor Center.

New Jersey’s raptors commonly referred to as "birds of prey," include hawks, owls, eagles, falcons and vultures. At one time these species were on the brink of extinction according to the New Jersey Division of Fish and Wildlife. Over the past few decades the population has made a significant recovery, thanks in part to the work of biologists, educators and volunteers from Conserve Wildlife Foundation of New Jersey, authorities say.

This program is made possible by a grant from Phillips 66.
