ELIZABETH, NJ-An Elizabeth police officer has been charged with illegally collecting thousands of dollars in insurance benefits, authorities said.

Pedestrian Struck and Killed in Elizabeth

ELIZABETH, NJ -- A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle this morning in Elizabeth, authorities said.

The victim was hit on York Street around 6:20 a.m. and pronounced dead at the scene, Elizabeth police Captain Andrew King said.
