Elizabeth Firefighters to Host 9/11 Promise Runners

ELIZABETH, NJ-Elizabeth Firefighters will be hosting 27 runners from across the country. They will be completing their last day of the 9/11 Promise Run, created to “honor the lives lost; the emergency personnel who responded with the greatest of courage; the folks today that continue to fight for this country’s safety and freedom, here and abroad; and the children and families who were directly impacted by 9/11.” Jennifer DePoto, organizer of the run said.

In the afternoon, members of Elizabeth Firefighters Local 9 will provide lunch at Elizabeth Fire Headquarters before seeing the runners off to the Weekhawken Ferry on their way to Ground Zero.

The Firemen’s Mutual Benevolent Association of New Jersey, Branch No. 9 is a community organization that represents and promotes the interests of the firefighters of the City of Elizabeth, NJ Fire Department.
