LINDEN, NJ - According to authorities, a fire took place at a transportation facility in Linden, Friday morning.

At approximately 9:15 a.m. this morning Linden Police and Fire units were dispatched to 4200 Tremley Point Rd on reports of a fire.

The two-alarm fire started on a fork lift and spread toward some chemical transport tanks stacked nearby.

Workers from several surrounding buildings left the area due to the heavy smoke conditions before the fire was extinguished less than an hour later. 

Union County Fire Mutual Aid units provided assistance on scene, including engines from the Elizabeth, Rahway, Roselle, Cranford, and Union Fire Departments.



Union County Hazmat personnel also responded, and will continue to conduct air monitoring in the area as a precaution.

As of now there is no hazard to the public.
