ELIZABETH, N J - Elizabeth Police and the Union County Sheriff’s Officers are investigating a shooting that left one man dead in Elizabeth early Tuesday morning, according to acting Union County Prosecutor Jennifer Davenport.
According to authorities, the victim has been identified as 27-year-old Alfonso James of Elizabeth.
Authorities said, Elizabeth Police patrol units responding to a report of a shooting at the Mravlag Manor housing complex at approximately 2:30 a.m. Tuesday found James there and injured, according to the preliminary investigation. James was pronounced dead a little more than half an hour later.
This matter remains under active joint investigation by the Union County Homicide Task Force, Elizabeth Police Department, Union County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Unit, and Union County Police Department Ballistics Unit.
