2018 Union County Girls Basketball Tournament

UNION COUNTY, NJ – The 16-2 Jonathan Dayton Bulldogs are seeded eighth in the Union County Girls Basketball Tournament.  They face the ninth-seeded Summit Hilltoppers at home on Feb. 13 in a first-round game.  Summit is 10-7 on the season and 6-2 in the UCC – Mountain Division, which puts them in second place.  Both teams have a preliminary round bye.

The winner’s quarterfinal round opponent will be the winner of the game between first seed Patrick and the winner of the preliminary round match between 17 seed Elizabeth High School and 16 seed Linden High School.

The rest of the upper half of the bracket includes two other first-round games. Fourth seed Oak Knoll will play the winner of the preliminary round game of 20 seed Roselle Park and 13 seed Johnson. Fifth seed Cranford plays the winner of the preliminary round game of 21st seed Hillside against 12th seed New Providence.

The bottom of the bracket has the second seed Roselle Catholic playing the winner of 15th seed Governor Livingston against 18th seed Rahway.  In the quarterfinal, the winner of that game will play the winner of the first round game between seventh seed Union Catholic and tenth seed Scotch Plains-Fanwood.

The other quarterfinal will be determined by the game between third seed Westfield and the winner of the 14th seed Union and 19th seed Benedictine game.  The other team to make this quarterfinal will be the winner of the game between sixth seed Kent Place and 11th seed Plainfield.

Preliminary round games are scheduled to be played on Feb. 10.  First-round games are to be played on Feb.13.  Quarterfinal games will be played on Feb.16 and the semifinal games are scheduled for February 21.  The date for the championship game has yet to be determined. 

The lower seeded teams have the home court.
