GLEN ROCK, NJ - A car left abandoned in the middle of Highwood Avenue during the middle of the night was tracked to a "highly intoxicated" woman in Ridgewood, police said.
On May 28, just before 3 a.m., police came upon an unoccupied Jeep which was in the "travel portion of the roadway with the driver side door ajar." Police said the keys were located in the vehicle, "which was littered with garbage. A woman’s makeup bag was also recovered in the street near the vehicle."
Police located the vehicle’s owner at her apartment in Ridgewood. "She was in a highly intoxicated state and first claimed that her vehicle was in the driveway by her apartment," police said. "She then claimed it had been stolen along with a purse belonging to another woman at her apartment."
These allegations were investigated by the Ridgewood Police Department.
"As all the occupants of the apartment were intoxicated or did not have valid drivers’ licenses, the vehicle was parked on Highwood Avenue and secured by officers at the scene," police said.
Police advised the owner to contact the Glen Rock Police Department when she was sober to claim her vehicle.
