GLEN ROCK, NJ - Glen Rock councilwoman Arati Kreibich announced today that the national arm of Indivisible has joined the local NJ-05 chapter in endorsing her campaign to represent New Jersey's fifth Congressional District.
Brought together by a practical guide to resist the Trump agenda, Indivisible is a movement of thousands of group leaders and more than a million members taking regular, iterative, and increasingly complex actions to resist the GOPs agenda, elect local champions, and fight for progressive policies.
Kreibich is challenging incumbent Rep. Josh Gottheimer in the Democratic primary for the seat this June.
"Our country is grappling with an out-of-control administration that has little respect for the Constitution, for the health and welfare of the people, and for the planet”, Kreibich says. New Jersey must send its strongest, most passionate voices to Congress to fight for progressive values instead of caving to Trumpism.
"Indivisible has been a force in rallying grassroots groups and fighting for our democracy. They are joining hundreds of local activists and leaders in supporting my campaign because they know that while Rep. Gottheimer has big corporations, we have people. I am proud and honored to gain their endorsement."
Indivisible’s IE Political Director Lucy Solomon said. “Like many progressives in the 5th District, Arati Kreibich spent her 2018 volunteering to get Josh Gottheimer reelected to Congress. And like many progressives, Arati watched as Representative Gottheimer repeatedly failed his district: voting in favor of giving more money to Trump’s deportation machine and to bolster Trump’s illegitimate use of power to take America to the edge of war.”
Gottheimer is among the Congressional Democrats to vote most frequently with Trump and recently shocked supporters by opposing a resolution directing Trump to limit action against Iran. Gottheimer has failed to support the Green New Deal and Medicare for All.
Kreibich vows to succeed where her opponent has failed, committing to bold solutions for constituents' most pressing problems and standing up to Trump’s agenda. To learn more about her campaign, visit www.aratiforcongress.com.
