Fair Lawn BOE Reorganizes, Adds New Board Member

FAIR LAWN, NJ – District officials welcomed new board member Emily Cohen and incumbents Ron Barbarulo and Elyss Frenkel to the Board of Education on Wednesday night at the annual reorganization meeting held at Thomas Edison School.

Barbarulo was the highest vote-getter with 2,516 votes, while Elyss Frenkel followed with 2,298, and newcomer Emily Cohen received 2,220. Ex-board member Joan Piela was not re-elected to another three-year term. She received 1,869 votes in November.

The majority of board members re-elected Eugene Banta as the board president and Barbarulo as vice president.

Jeff Klein praised both executive members.

“I’m happy and grateful that you’re here,” said Klein to Barbarulo.

“I know you will continue to give us the calm we need to keep trucking through our challenges,” said Klein to Banta.

Tribute in Light Will Shine Tonight for 9/11
