The Ridgewood Choral is pleased to announce saxophonist Isaac Ketter of Fair Lawn, NJ as the winner of the 2018 Florence Reinauer Memorial Music Award of $2,500 given to the highest scoring performer, instrumental or vocal in a live audition.  The award is given to a high school senior who intends to continue his or her musical education at an institute of higher learning.  Instituted in 1967, the fund was later endowed by Franklin Reinauer as a memorial to his wife Florence. To date the Choral has awarded more than $42,000 to encourage talented young musicians.

The Marjorie Vandervoort Vocal Award in the amount of $1,200 was instituted this year in honor of Marjorie Vandervoort’s 25 years as Music Director.  Alto Tiffani Rivera of Suffern, NY is the winner for excellence in vocal performance.

Ketter, a senior at Fair Lawn High School, is the first jazz musician to receive the Reinauer Award. He studies with Alexander Knox, Roman Filiu and Scott Avidon.  At Fair Lawn High School, he is First Chair in the Symphonic Band and the Wind Ensemble.  He was awarded Most Outstanding Musician in the Jazz Ensemble and is also lead alto.  He is a soloist with Jazz House Kids Ambassador Ensemble and plays with the Fair Lawn Bible Church Worship Team.  He attended the Kimmel Jazz Camp in Philadelphia.
