FAIR LAWN - The Borough Council signed a resolution to purchase a new band shell on Oct. 1.
The borough authorized the purchase on Aug. 15. The Mobile Sound Shell Stage, Showmaster 3000 comes at a cost of $164,947 from Century Industries out of Sellersburg, IN. It will replace the current 25-year-old structure.
The funds are coming out of the 2017 operating budget.
The borough expects delivery of the new band shell 90 to 120 days after the Oct. 1 purchase order is issued.
Borough manager James Van Kruiningen previously stated the cost will be funded by fees generated through the Community Center over "several years."
The new shell, which will be called the "Fair Lawn Recreation and Parks Community Stage," will come outfitted with sound and lighting, an improvement over the current model.
Van Kruiningen said the new stage will be put in service for the 2018 season.
