Fraud: Fair Lawn Police received a report on 5/2/18 from a resident of Albert Avenue that his unlocked vehicle had been entered overnight and that his wallet had been taken. Det. Mark Wyka took over the investigation and arrested Lestor Babb, age 57 of Paterson, on 5/11/18 after identifying him from videos of Babb using credit cards from the stolen wallet. Babb admitted to being paid with food to make purchases with the credit cards for someone else. He was released after being charged with fraudulent use of a credit card.
10:35 pm - Narcotics: P.O. John Rovetto, P.O. Javier Gutierrez, P.O. Justin DiGuglielmo and Sgt. Kevin Wood responded to Shoprite, 17-17 River Road, on a report of a shoplifting in progress and arrested Henry Bermudez, age 30 of Paterson, and Peter Giovenco, age 31 of Mount Olive, after arrest warrants were located for both (Bermudez – Clifton for $1,000), (Giovenco – Clifton for $2,500, Paramus for $433). Crack cocaine, oxycodone and paraphernalia were found during searches.
Bermudez, whom ShopRite loss prevention reported had attempted to take $856.88 in unpaid items in a shopping cart, was charged with attempted shoplifting and possession of drug paraphernalia. Goivenco was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of hypodermic needles. Both were handed over to Clifton Police.
7:46 pm - Narcotics: P.O. Mark Roskowsky and Sgt. Kenneth Cavanagh responded to the Radburn Train Station on Pollitt Drive for a male causing a disturbance and arrested Lorenzohamid Acosta, age 25 of New York, NY, after a loaded syringe with suspected heroin was discovered in his pocket after a struggle. He was released after being charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of a hypodermic needle & resisting arrest.
