Fair Lawn Police To Host Annual Junior Police Academy

FAIR LAWN, NJ -  The Fair Lawn Police Department will be hosting its annual Junior Police Academy this year from Monday, July 16 to Friday, July 20. This year’s junior academy training will include visits to the Bergen County Law & Public Safety Complex in Mahwah and to Mountain Creek in Vernon. The junior recruits will receive training in police tactics, drug and alcohol awareness and refusal skills. They will also see demonstrations conducted by the Bergen County Police K-9 Unit, Bomb Squad and SWAT Team, plus visits by the Fair Lawn Fire Department, Fair Lawn Rescue Squad and Fair Lawn Ambulance Corps.  

Junior recruits need to be between the ages of 11 and 14 by August 1 to be eligible to apply.  Applications will be available at Fair Lawn Police Headquarters, 8-01 Fair Lawn Avenue, starting on Wednesday, May 9 at 9:00 a.m.  Applications that are accepted will be on a first-come basis.
