Fair Lawn Resident Charged with Sexual Assault, Child Endangerment

FAIR LAWN - After a juvenile female reported she was sexually assaulted and named her attacker, the county prosecutor's investigation led him to charge Alphonse Diaz with sexual assault.

Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir S. Grewal announced the arrest of Alphonse Diaz, 27, single and employed as a customer service representative, of 1-15 Grunauer Place, Fair Lawn, on charges of Aggravated Sexual Assault, Sexual Assault, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

The arrest was the result of a joint investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office and the Fair Lawn Police Department.

On Nov.13, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit received information that a juvenile female reported she was sexually assaulted by Diaz. After an investigation, Diaz was arrested Nov. 14 in Fair Lawn and charged with one count of Aggravated Sexual Assault, a 1st degree crime; one count of Sexual Assault by Sexual Contact, a 2nd degree crime; and one count of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a 3rd degree crime.

Diaz appeared in Bergen County Central Judicial Processing Court for a first appearance on Nov. 15.
