Fair Lawn Road Paving to Begin Tuesday, Oct. 24: Check List for Road Closures


FAIR LAWN - Milling and resurfacing several roads in town will begin on Tuesday, Oct. 24 and last possibly through Wednesday, Nov. 1.

The following streets, in their entirety unless noted otherwise, will be milled and resurfaced: 

22nd Street, Southern Drive and Zachary Terrace

Elden Place, Sunderland Drive, Romana Drive, Wenonah  Drive and Wyckoff Terrace

Bancroft Place, Barry Place, Bedford Place, Beekman Place, Bolton Place, Brighton Place, Brearly Crescent and Burnham Place

Backus Road and Parmelee Avenue (Intersection of Backus Road ONLY)

Milling (asphalt removal) will take place from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. (M-F), weather permitting:

Resurfacing (paving) will take place between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. (M-F), weather permitting.

Date changes will be noted on the street posting signs. Inclement weather will delay paving time and or dates. Any unfinished street paving will commence on the next posted day.

During paving, vehicles "WILL NOT" be permitted to enter or leave the areas being resurfaced with Hot Mix Asphalt (350 degrees-Fahrenheit).

Sections of the street will be posted for "No Parking" on the day prior to paving. Please move your car out of the posted area to a nearby street prior to the commencement of work scheduled for 7 a.m. Consider outlying streets for parking. Area overnight parking restriction enforcement will be suspended by the Police for this project, please call them at their non-emergency number 201-796-1400 and advise the location of your parked vehicle. Streets closed with traffic cones will be reopened to traffic at the completion of the cooling of the compacted (rolled) Hot Mix Asphalt.

Refuse and recycling services have been notified and will collect prior to paving. Emergency vehicles will have access at all times.


Please contact the Fair Lawn Engineering Department at 201-794-5300/5301 if you have special transportation needs (i.e. contracted service) that require vehicle access for coordination thereof. Again, there will be no access during paving.
