FAIR LAWN - The Borough Council agreed to purchase a new band shell at a cost of $164,000, replacing the current 25-year-old structure.

"The one we have will just make it through this season," said borough manager Jim Van Kruiningen at the May 16 work session.

The cost will be funded by fees generated through the Community Center over "several years."

The new shell, which will be called the "Fair Lawn Recreation and Parks Community Stage," will come outfitted with sound and lighting, an improvement over the current model.

Van Kruiningen said the new stage will be put in service for the 2018 season.
