Glen Rock Congratulates Readathon Winners

GLEN ROCK - There was a room full of readers on June 14 when the Borough Council recognized winners of the annual Readathon contest.

Sponsored by the Friends of the Library, 382 children participated to read a total of 9,276 hours. They raised $7,500 for the library with their efforts.

The following children received certificates for their achievements: Zoe Olsen, second grade, 79 hours; Daniel and James Chin, 102 hours, most in family with two siblings; Ashton, Sonia and Maya LaRiccia, 105 hours, most in family with three siblings; Ashton won for the most reading in the fifth grade, as well, 69 hours; Joseph Yoo, third grade, 84.75 hours; Athena Guitierres-Ewing, first grade, 79 hours; Taryn Picariello, fourth grade, 59 hours; Emma Schuchman, kindergarten, 38 hours; Olivia Cairoll, most by a future reader, pre-K, 10.5 hours; Sara Kahyap had the most time overall with 95 hours; Stella Nuckley raised the most money, $262; and the Clara E. Coleman School had the most participants, 43%.
