GLEN ROCK, NJ - The Borough Council recently recognized the Glen Rock Green Team's efforts to tackle plastic pollution, just one of the initiatives Councilwoman Arati Kreibich said made them "49 change makers."
The Glen Rock Green Team Interns, ranging in age from 12 to 22, were honored for their work to find more "sustainable solutions." Kreibich read a proclamation recognizing their efforts at the Jan. 8 council meeting.
The interns participated in the single-use plastic bag ban passed last year which took effect in Glen Rock on Jan. 1. They were also responsible for securing a filtered water dispenser through a grant in the borough hall meeting room. Additionally, they ran a campaign to encourage local restaurants to switch from plastic to paper straws.
