GLEN ROCK, NJ — Having recently announced their candidacy, Republicans pulled two candidates onto the primary ballot, and they will now challenge the two incumbent Democrats in November.
On primary election day, June 8, Council President Mary Barchetto (419) was the top vote getter and Jill Orlich (398) came in second in the unofficial results, according the borough clerk. Both are Democrats.
Republicans Maria Dolan (108) and William J. Leonard (106) will represent Glen Rock in the November 2 general election. Both were write-in candidates. Results are unofficial, according to the borough clerk.
The Mayor and Council consists of a mayor and six council members elected at large, according to the borough's website. Two council members are elected each year for three-year terms and the Mayor is elected for four years. The Mayor is the Chief Executive Officer for the Borough.
On the state level, Democrat Gov. Phil Murphy was unchallenged on June 8 and received 441 votes.
Republican Jack Ciattarelli (195-local Glen Rock vote total) defeated Hirsch Singh (46-local Glen Rock vote total), his highest vote-getting challenger of the four individuals vying to challenge Murphy in November.
There are 5,861 registered voters in Glen Rock.
