FAIR LAWN, NJ - A man escaped a firey crash without injury late yesterday afternoon after colliding into a roadway light pole, shutting Route 208 North to just one lane for some time.
According to an eyewitness report, Fair Lawn Fire Department, Fair Lawn Heavy Rescue, Fair Lawn EMS, and Fair Lawn Police responded to the single vehicle crash, which resulted in the vehicle igniting on fire on Route 208 northbound near the Fair Lawn Commons late Saturday afternoon, February 15.
The vehicle's sole occupant, an adult male driver, escaped without injury.
A roadway lighting pole owned by NJDOT was demolished after the vehicle, a VW Jetta, veered off the highway and struck it. Traffic on Route 208 northbound was restricted to one lane until the roadway was cleared of all debris and the vehicle was removed by a tow truck.
No word at the scene as to what caused the crash, nor whether any summonses were issued to the driver.
