FAIR LAWN, NJ - A 51-year-old man from Franklin Lakes was hospitalized with significant injuries after he crashed into a pickup truck which sent him flying over the hood, police said.
Maple Avenue is currently CLOSED between River Road and Oak Street and is expected to be closed through the afternoon rush hour. The crash was still under investigation at 3 p.m. today.
Today, just before 1 p.m., a 1990 Honda motorcycle, operated by a 51-year-old male from Franklin Lakes, was travelling north on Maple Avenue just past River Road when he struck a 2002 GMC Sierra, operated by a 69-year-old male from Maywood.
The operator of the pickup truck was making a left out of a business on Maple Avenue, causing significant damage to both vehicles and sending the motorcyclist over the hood of the pick-up truck and onto Maple Avenue.
The crash scene was visible on a clear, dry day from River Road at the corner of Maple Avenue, where police blocked entrance to Maple Avenue.
The motorcyclist suffered injuries to both legs and was complaining of pain to his hip and torso, police said. He was transported to St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Paterson by Fair Lawn Volunteer Ambulance Corps. The driver of the GMC was uninjured.
