GLEN ROCK, NJ - Kristi L. O'Connor, 47, of Wyckoff was arrested for the train station fire in the early hours of Saturday morning, according to Glen Rock Police.
The damage to the Main Line Train Station, which houses the V.F.W. and Historical Society, appears to be confined to the area of the front door, as well as some smoke damage inside of the building, police said.
On July 7 at approximately 3 a.m., police dispatched to the scene found the door to the building on fire along with broken windows and damage to the structure. O'Connor was arrested at the scene and charged with arson, criminal mischief, burglary, theft, criminal trespass and failure to report a fire.
Police said O'Connor unlawfully entered an unlocked vehicle parked in the Main Line parking lot. Once inside the vehicle, she removed several tools located inside. She then began to damage the front door area of the V.F.W./Historical Society with the stolen tools and lit a wreath located on the door, as well as the door itself, on fire. The fire subsequently set off the fire alarm which alerted authorities.
O'Connor was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending an appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack. The incident is still under investigation by the Glen Rock Police Department Detective Bureau with the assistance of the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office Arson Task Force.
