Jan. 4 - 1:01 am Wanted Person: P.O. Geovanny Buitron initiated a motor vehicle stop on Maple Avenue at Elm Avenue and arrested the passenger, Christopher Hiraldo, age 22 of New York, NY, after arrest warrants were located out of Edgewater ($321) and Fairview ($250).  He was released after bail was posted.

Jan. 7 - 6:51 pm Shoplifting:  P.O. Michael Van Ness, P.O. Michael Franco, P.O. Robert Iozzia, P.O. Anthony Ferreira and P.O. Juan Hinojosa responded to ShopRite, 17-17 River Road, and arrested Kimberly Scully, age 34 of Clifton, after she was detained by store loss prevention with $83.92 in unpaid items in a bag. She was charged with shoplifting, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of hypodermic needles, then was transported to St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Paterson with a hand injury.

Jan. 9 - 9:53 pm Narcotics: P.O. Justin DiGuglielmo initiated a motor vehicle stop on Route 208 North at DeBoer Drive and arrested the passenger, Joshua Panfile, age 38 of Mahwah, after he handed cocaine over to the officer upon request. He was released after being charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Jan. 10 - 5:42 pm Narcotics: Det. Anthony Lugo and Det. Brian Rypkema approached Peter Ferraro Jr, age 34 of Fair Lawn, while he was sitting in his parked vehicle on Banta Place at Watkins Avenue and arrested him for an arrest warrant out of Ocean County.Heroin was discovered inside the vehicle during a search.  He was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of hypodermic needles, then handed over to the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department.

Jan. 10 - 8:11 pm Narcotics: P.O. John Rovetto initiated a motor vehicle stop on Broadway at Grunauer Place and arrested the operator, Sergio Nolasco, age 48 of Elmwood Park, after marijuana was handed over upon request by the officer. He was released after being charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance.

Jan. 10 - 10:30 pm Wanted Person: P.O. John Rovetto initiated a motor vehicle stop on Broadway at Yerger Road and arrested the operator, Gabriel Arce, age 24 of Fresh Meadow, NY, after an arrest warrant was located out of Wildwood for $125. He was released after bail was posted.

Jan. 11 - Fraud:  On 12-06-18, a resident of Fair Lawn reported to Fair Lawn Police that their checking account had seven unauthorized transactions, totaling $725.40. Det. Anthony Lugo took over the investigation and arrested Sharna White, age 26 of East Orange, after she turned herself in. She was released after being charged with theft by deception.

Jan. 12 - 6:28 pm Shoplifting:  P.O. Juan Rodriguez & P.O. John Kelly responded to ShopRite, 17-17 River Road, on a report of a shoplifter changing barcodes on items and arrested Joseph Balistrieri, age 62 of Elmwood Park, after he was captured leaving the store. The items, which totaled $18.12, only cost $6.80 after the barcodes were changed. He was released after being charged with shoplifting.

Chief Glen Cauwels stated all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
