05/22/2019 Theft: On 05-02-19, Fair Lawn Police responded to a residence on Bancroft Place on a report of missing credit cards, jewelry and cash from the residence. Det. Mark Wyka took over the investigation and was able to identify and arrest Michael Morris, age 49 of Garfield, after tracking his use of the stolen credit cards. He was released after being charged with theft of movable property and fraudulent use of credit cards.

05/27/2019 3:12 am Narcotics: P.O. Geovanny Buitron approached two suspicious people walking on Broadway at 27th Street and arrested Luan Cuni, age 35 of Maywood, and Melissa Maletto, age 38 of Lanoka Harbor, after heroin had been dropped on the ground. Cuni was released after being charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance (CDS), possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of hypodermic needles and pedestrian to cross within crosswalk.

Maletto, who was found with identification not belonging to her, was charged with possession of CDS, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of hypodermic needles, possession of a false government document and pedestrian to cross within crosswalk. Arrest warrants were located out of Morris County (no bail) and Newark ($250), so she was handed over to the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office.

05/27/2019 8:45 pm Narcotics: P.O. John Rovetto initiated a motor vehicle stop on Maple Avenue at Hemlock Place and arrested the operator, Jonathan Mendez, age 33 of Paterson, after marijuana was discovered inside the vehicle. He was released after being charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and failure to wear a seatbelt.

05/27/2019 9:44 pm Wanted Person: P.O. Justin DiGuglielmo approached a suspicious person walking on Broadway at 30th Street and arrested John Shock, age 33 of Paterson, after arrest warrants were located out of Passaic County (no bail) & Paterson ($250). He was handed over to Passaic County Sheriff’s Department.

05/28/2019 6:35 pm Shoplifting: P.O. Juan Rodriguez, P.O. Brad Pindyck, P.O. Chris Sullivan & Sgt. Peter Yuskaitis responded to CVS, 18-35 River Road, after a report of a shoplifting in progress. Braxton Watking, age 33 of Passaic, was arrested as he left the business with $56.94 in unpaid items in a shopping basket. A second person involved, Fausto Pichardo-Gonzalez, age 35 of Fort Lee, was also arrested after he was found in a getaway vehicle with $166.07 in unpaid items in the vehicle.

Watking, who had arrest warrants out of Paramus ($2,044) & Fair Lawn ($750), was charged with shoplifting, then sent to Bergen County Jail. Pichardo-Gonzalez was released after being charged with receiving stolen property.

05/29/2019 2:16 am Narcotics: P.O. John Rovetto initiated a motor vehicle stop on Lincoln Avenue at Harristown Road and arrested the operator, Christine Brown, age 46 of Middletown, NY, and the passenger, Cassie Brown, age 26 of Middletown, NY, after both were found with heroin.

Christine was released after being charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance (CDS), possession of drug paraphernalia, failure to maintain a single lane, operating with a suspended license and operating with an expired license. Cassie was released after being charged with possession of CDS, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of hypodermic needles & failure to wear a seatbelt.

06/01/2019 12:23 am Narcotics: P.O. Brad Pindyck & P.O. Juan Rodriguez initiated a motor vehicle stop on Broadway at 30th Street and arrested the operator, Laura Strobolakos, age 47 of Caldwell, after crack cocaine and marijuana were discovered inside the vehicle. She was released after being charged with 2 counts of possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

06/02/2019 10:54 pm Narcotics: P.O. Geovanny Buitron initiated a motor vehicle stop on Broadway at 27th Street and arrested the passenger, Julia Marcello, age 27 of Teaneck, after evidence of drug use was found in her clothing. She was released after being charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of hypodermic needles & failure to wear a seatbelt.

Chief Glen Cauwels stated all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
