During the period between February 11 to February 17, 2019 members of the GRPD handled 246 calls for service, the highlights of which included:
Feb. 12 - 9:06 AM – A Glen Rock woman reported that on February 1 she had mailed a check for $75 to a utility company using the US Postal Service mailbox on West Plaza near the Source Building. A few days later while checking her account records she found that the check had been altered to the amount of $1,500 and made payable to an individual unknown to the victim.
The matter has been referred to the US Postal Inspection Service which investigates all crimes involving U.S. Mail which are federal offenses. The Postal Service is also beginning to replace their public drop boxes with newer, higher security drop boxes.
Feb. 16 - 3:41 AM – While on patrol along Lincoln Avenue P.O. John Tarantino stopped a vehicle for driving at an excessive speed. During the course of the motor vehicle stop he arrested the driver, a 28-year-old Ansonia Connecticut woman, for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of marijuana. The woman’s vehicle was impounded, and she was transported for processing and released to the custody of a sober adult in accordance with John’s law.
The woman was charged with driving under the influence, possession of Marijuana Under 50 grams and issued traffic summonses for operation of a motor vehicle while in possession of a controlled dangerous substance, having an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle, reckless driving, speeding and use of a cellphone without a handsfree device while driving.
