During the period between November 9 to November 15, 2020 members of the GRPD handled 251 calls for service, the highlights of which included:
11-10-2020 - 6:37 PM – Following an investigation into a November 7th shoplifting at Bottle King on Prospect Street, Det. Lucas Doney arrested a 20-year-old Hawthorne woman who was identified through video surveillance footage provided by the store. The woman had taken a bottle of alcohol and snacks from the store without paying. She was processed at police HQ and released pending an appearance in Glen Rock Municipal Court.
11-12-2020 - 11:53 AM – Patrols were dispatched to the Rock Road Central Business District to investigate a report of a man sitting on a bench bleeding. The victim, a 93-year-old Ridgewood man, stated he was walking on the sidewalk when a dog ran out from a lobby door leading to second floor apartments. The dog then lunged at the man and bit his left wrist. The victim was treated on scene by EMT’s and refused further medical attention. Officers were able to identify the dog and its owner. The matter has been referred to TYCO Animal Control. Incidents of this nature are investigated by Animal Control in cooperation with Bergen County Health Services.
11-14-2020 - 9:29 PM – A resident walking through Wilde Memorial Park reported observing a picnic table turned over and garbage cans knocked over. While checking the area officers found that damages had been done inside the rest rooms at the bathhouse.
It appeared that the damage was very recent as the fields were in use most of the day and one of the bathroom dividers had been ripped off the wall and was laying outside, which would have been noticed.
